Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School has an anticipated vacancy for a probationary elementary teacher who wants to be part of an excellent, student-centered middle school and join a vibrant grade-level team. A successful candidate will be able to:Design instruction to meet the needs of all students through both individual and small group settings as neededDesign clear and specific assessments to gauge student learning on a continual basisManage the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain a productive, growth-oriented learning environmentPrepare lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, use appropriate techniques, and serve the needs of all learners in the classroomPossess knowledge of intervention strategies and how to implement them to promote student growth in literacy and mathBe able to teach elementary subjects and create interdisciplinary learning experiencesCollaborate with grade-level team and partner teachers to ensure consistency on the grade levelAbility to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with staff, students, parents, administrators, and the communityKeep parents up-to-date on student progress through use of standards-based report cards, emails, and/or other means of communication Qualifications: Masters Degree NYS Certification in respective area of instruction
