Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School has an anticipated opening for an Elementary Leave Replacement teacher who wants to be part of an excellent, student-centered middle school and join a vibrant 5th-Grade team. A successful candidate will be able to:Design instruction to meet the needs of all students through both individual and small group settings as neededDesign clear and specific learning assessmentsManage the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain a productive, growth-oriented learning environmentPrepare lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, use appropriate techniques, and serve the needs of all learners in the classroomAssess student learning on a continual basisCollaborate with 5th-Grade team and partner teachers to ensure consistency on the grade levelDemonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the content areasAbility to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with staff, students, parents, administrators and the communityKeep parents up-to-date of student progress through use of standards-based report cards, emails and/or other means of communicationQualifications: Masters Degree NYS Certification in respective area of instruction Application Submission:Interested candidates should submit their application, resume, and cover letter utilizing OLAS.
