Located along the scenic Hudson and Croton rivers, the Croton-Harmon School District is home to a diverse community. The personalized approach to teaching found in our schools makes the District one of the most successful in a county known for the high quality of its public schools. Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School has an anticipated opening for a probationary Special Education teacher in the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. This individual will be responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate classroom activities in an innovative educational setting based on established IEP goals, student needs and best practices. The candidate should have experience in delivering specialized instruction in all content areas pursuant to a student’s Individualized Education Program The successful candidate will be able to: • Provide specialized instruction in a small group setting, use effective evidence based instructional methodologies customized to individual students’ goals and objectives; provide appropriate consultation to other classroom staff to meet the student’s needs across settings. • Effectively organize the classroom environment, instructional materials and schedule to match and maximize learning. • Adhere to the district philosophy regarding behavior management and implement all relevant techniques appropriately. Manage the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain a productive and supportive learning environment. • Maintain appropriate and effective interpersonal relationships and collaborate with the Director of PPS, school administrators and other staff. • Comply with regulatory requirements and district policy and procedures in all areas. • Prepare lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, use appropriate techniques, accommodations and modifications and serve the needs of all learners in the classroom. • Collect data related to IEP goals and use data to make informed instructional decisions • Maintain accurate and complete records as required. • Have the ability to self-evaluate, be reflective and problem solve. Certificates & Licenses:Must be NYS certified in Students with Disabilities Birth-Grade 2 and Students with Disabilities Grades 1-6.
