STEAM-D/Fine Arts Teacher Probationary (Grades 5-8) Located along the scenic Hudson and Croton rivers, the Croton-Harmon School District is home to a diverse community. Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School, of the Croton Harmon Union Free School District, has an anticipated opening for a STEAM-D teacher with a passion to teach and a strong ability to build rapport with students in an environment where learning through 21st Century skills are valued and a dominant part of the school culture. A successful candidate will be able to:Exhibit a strong ability to develop connections with middle school students and to cultivate an atmosphere of mutual respect Show a willingness to contribute to a learning environment that values and addresses the social-emotional needs of studentsDesign, implement, assess and manage high-quality Fine Arts and Design instruction to meet the needs of all studentsIncorporate STEAM-D education through experiential learning and employ strategies for weaving STEAM-D experiences into multi-disciplinary curriculaCollaborate with teachers, school and district administrators to develop curriculum focused on design thinking, engineering, computer science and further efforts to integrate technology to maximize student engagement and to differentiate instructionEffectively manage the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain a productive, growth-oriented learning environment Have the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with staff, students, parents, administrators and the communityKeep parents up-to-date of student progress through use of standards-based report cards, electronic gradebook, emails and/or other means of communication Qualifications: Masters Degree NYS Certification in Fine Arts and/or Careers and Technical Education: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, or similar Croton-Harmon School District embraces diversity in our workplace and in our schools.
