LOCATION: Career & Technical Education – Multiple Locations BASIC FUNCTION: Deliver intentional authentic Career & Financial Management (CFM) instruction to students enrolled in CTE programs across the Capital District BOCES. The successful candidate will ensure that all exiting CTE students have had a meaningful opportunity to develop practical career and financial skills, culminating in the creation of an original business plan. QUALIFICATIONS: Valid NYS teaching certificate in any Career & Technical Teacher certification area; or Valid NYS teaching certificate in the following Classroom Teacher certification areas: Agriculture Business & Marketing Computer Science Family & Consumer Sciences Technology Education Demonstrated ability to engage high school students in applied, real-world learning experiences. Strong communication and organizational skills. Willingness to collaborate across CTE program areas and embrace innovative instructional approaches. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Background in mathematics, financial literacy or business coursework, with the ability to apply quantitative reasoning in instructional settings. Experience owning and operating a business or comparable entrepreneurial background, with ability to bring authentic, real-world perspective into the classroom. Familiarity with business plan development, small business finance, or entrepreneurship education. Experience working with students or in a CTE environment. Experience with Special Education students and co-teaching models is a plus. The selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001. RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach the NYS Career & Financial Management curriculum as a dedicated, stand-alone course integrated across CTE program areas. Career development curriculum covers career development, options beyond high school, the job search process, workplace regulations, career readiness skills, lifelong learning, leadership and ethics, and business communications and technological innovations. Financial Management curriculum will cover budgeting, money management, credit and loans, interest, investing, consumer options and protections, insurance, and taxes. Guide students through the full business plan development process; from market research, financial projections to presentation, connecting CFM content to student’s technical programs. Incorporate real-world financial literacy, career planning, entrepreneurship concepts into engaging, project-based instruction. Collaborate with CTE program teachers to contextualize CFM content within specific career pathways. Apply mathematics and qualitative reasoning skills to support students’ understanding of financial management topics including budgeting, profit/loss analysis, and investment fundamentals. Maintain accurate records and documentation required for CTE compliance and CDOS Graduation Pathway or Commencement Credential eligibility. Participate in departmental planning, professional development, and continuous program improvement.
