LOCATION: Career & Technical Education – Albany Campus @ 886 Watervliet Shaker Road ANTICIPATED DATE: 2026-27 school year BASIC FUNCTION: Network Technology is a two-year program that offers students the chance to acquire industry-recognized certifications in copper and fiber optic cabling, wireless technologies, digital literacy and cybersecurity. Through a blend of lectures and hands on activities, students delve into the dynamic domain, acquiring the technical expertise and professionalism necessary for thriving careers in the industry. QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree or higher in Computer Technology and two (2) years of telecommunication and network cabling experience; or High School diploma with four (4) years of telecommunication and network cabling experience; and Should meet New York State teaching certification requirements for a Transitional A certificate. Requirements for the Transitional A certificate are listed on the homepage of the NYS Education Department Teaching Certification under “Certification Requirements” in the category of ‘Career and Technical Teacher–Information Technology-Computer Technology 7-12’ http://eservices.nysed.gov/teach/certhelp/CertRequirementHelp.do . Hold an industry related credential. Experience in providing instruction a plus. Candidates will have demonstrated the ability to provide sound instruction, ability to work in a team environment, work collaboratively with staff and administration. Possess good written and verbal skills. The selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001. RESPONSIBILITIES: Educate students to understand the rapidly expanding field of network technology while integrating 11 th grade math and 12 th grade English curriculum. Teach fundamental skills to meet certification requirements in C-TECH Telecommunication Technologies & Network Cabling Specialist Copper 4.0; C-TECH Grounding and Bonding Copper Connectivity Systems; CareerSafe OSHA 10 Construction Safety Card; CareerSafe Cybersecurity basics; C-TECH Network Cabling Specialist Fiber Optic Based Systems 4.0; C-TECH Wireless Antenna Installer/Technician; Comp TIA IT Fundamentals & Digital Literacy; and Dig Safety New York. Train students for career opportunities as a network installer, data center network technician, fiber optic technician & splicer, cybersecurity technician, video surveillance installer, and wireless antenna technician. Students will learn critical thinking, communication, collaboration and public speaking skills integrated into the learning experience to prepare students for their journey beyond high school. To be responsible for developing and evaluating course plans. To develop in each student an awareness and understanding coupled with the skills and knowledge in the industry. Instill in all students safe work habits, the importance of lifelong learning and a work ethic that fosters reliability, competence, dependability and satisfaction with their own work.
