LOCATION: Career & Technical Education – Adult Education Program (Multiple Locations)SCHEDULE: Flexible AM/PM schedule @ 3 hours per class, up to 4 classes per dayBASIC FUNCTION: To instruct adults in general high school equivalency diploma preparation. Support overall program effectiveness following National and NYS Recording Systems, as defined by NYSED. QUALIFICATIONS:Valid NYS teacher certification or be able to meet requirements for the Adult Education certificate. Requirements for the certificate are listed on the homepage of the NYS Education Department Teaching Certification under “Certification Requirements” in the category of “Other School Service–Literacy & GED Preparation Instructor” http://eservices.nysed.gov/teach/certhelp/CertRequirementHelp.doWorking knowledge and understanding of the ASISTS Data Management System is preferred.Experience working with youth in alternative school settings desirable.The selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001. RESPONSIBILITIES:To instruct adults (18 years and older) in high school equivalency preparation within a classroom setting.Implement consistent data collection procedures, check data accuracy, establish follow-up strategies, and follow assessment procedures.Support student creation of short-term and long-term goals as required by NYSED.Record student achievements over multiple years. SALARY: BOCES employee salary commensurate with experience and in accordance with contract language.
