LOCATION: Career & Technical Education – Albany Campus @ 925B Watervliet-Shaker RoadSCHEDULE: Wednesday & Thursday 8:00AM – 2:00PM BASIC FUNCTION:To instruct students in the theory, proper practices, procedures and skills associated with the Practical Nursing Program and other Health Careers programs. To transfer theoretical knowledge in the classroom to practical application in the clinical experience. QUALIFICATIONS:New York State Registered Nurse LicenseHigher Education Qualifications are based upon available assignments:Assignments working only with secondary students in a clinical setting must hold an Associate’s degree in nursing.Assignments working with adult students and secondary students in a clinical setting must hold Bachelor’s degree in nursing or Associate’s degree in nursing while actively enrolled in Bachelor’s degree program in nursing.CPR certified in BLS with expectation of maintaining certification throughout employmentExperience in medical/surgical and geriatric nursing ideal, but not requiredExperience as a nurse educator preferred but not required.Medical clearance (i.e., physical exam completed within the last year, all childhood immunizations, 2 MMR or Titer drawn within the current year, TDAP 1 within the last 10 years, 2 varicella or medical documentation of disease, current flu vaccine, 2 step PPD or QuantiFERON gold with negative chest x-ray, and optional hepatitis B and optional covid vaccines with signed declination waiver if/when declined.The selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001. RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for developing and evaluating student progress, teaching safe work habits and protocols in alignment with scope of practice, while emphasizing professionalism, safety, reliability, competence, loyalty and dependability in clinical areas.Responsible for supervising and evaluating student progress in clinical areas based on defined classroom curriculum.Will work within the facilities to provide clinical nursing/health care program experiences aligned with and demonstrative of classroom curriculum while communicating with health careers teachers regarding students’ curricular learning and aligned objectives for specific clinical rotation placements.Implement differential teaching strategies related to clinical areas.Participates in ongoing professional development.All other duties assigned by the Director of Health Careers & Services.SALARY: BOCES employee salary commensurate with experience and in accordance with contract language.
