LOCATION: Career & Technical Education – Adult Health Careers Program @ 925B Watervliet-Shaker RoadSCHEDULE: Wednesday & Thursday 8:00 AM – 2:00 PMBASIC FUNCTION: To instruct students in the theory, proper practices, procedures and skills associated with the Practical Nursing Program. To transfer theoretical knowledge in the classroom to practical application in the clinical experience.QUALIFICATIONS: A. New York State Registered Nurse LicenseB. Medical clearance (i.e., physical exam completed within the last year, all childhood immunizations, 2 MMR or Titer drawn within the current year, TDAP 1 within the last 10 years, 2 varicella or medical documentation of disease, current flu vaccine, 2-step PPD or QuantiFERON gold with negative chest x-ray, and optional hepatitis B and optional covid vaccines).C. CPR certified in BLS current through August 2024 required.D. Experience in medical/surgical and geriatric nursing ideal.E. Experience as a nurse educator a plus.F. Master’s degree in Nursing preferred.The selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001.Vacancies are filled by certified list provided by Albany County Civil Service. Should no certified list be available, candidates appointed to this position will be serving in a provisional appointment in accordance with New York State Civil Service Law. The candidate must successfully complete a competitive examination and be eligible for appointment in accordance with Civil Service Law and the Civil Service Rules for Albany County to obtain a permanent appointment.RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. The instructor will be responsible for developing and evaluating student progress, instilling safe work habits and stressing the importance of reliability, competence, loyalty and dependability in clinical areas.2. Responsible for supervising and evaluating student progress in the clinical areas.3. Will work within the facilities to provide health care/nursing experiences which correspond to the current Practical Nurse program.4. Differential teaching strategies are expected in the clinical areas.
