START DATE: July 1, 2026 SALARY: per CPAA contract The Carle Place Union Free School District is looking for a dynamic, dedicated administrator to serve as the District Director of Humanities. The District Director of Humanities is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction in the Social Studies, English Language Arts (ELA), Reading, and World Languages departments from Kindergarten through 12th grade. The successful candidate will demonstrate collaborative leadership, strong communication and empathetic interpersonal skills, an extensive knowledge of best practices in K-12 instruction, a thorough understanding of the curricula associated with the departments under their supervision, and a commitment to continuous improvement and excellence for all learners. Qualifications : Valid NYS School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS) or School District Leader (SDL) certification Prior experience as successful curriculum administrator is preferred Responsibilities : The successful candidate will be able to perform the following functions with a high degree of competency: Collaborate with district administrators, educators, and other stakeholders to develop and articulate a cohesive vision for humanities education across all grade levels Tailor professional development opportunities for teachers based on assessment data analysis, curriculum updates, and emerging trends in education ensuring adherence to district standards and educational best practices Lead initiatives to enhance the quality of instruction in K-12 Social Studies, ELA, World Languages and Reading through the implementation of research-based instructional strategies Lead grade level teams and departments to ensure alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices across all grade levels within each humanities subject Analyze and report longitudinal assessment data to track student progress over time and identify trends in performance and to evaluate the effectiveness of instructional programs and interventions Conduct regular observations and evaluations of teachers to ensure alignment with district standards and instructional best practices Develop, implement, and manage the budgets associated with the departments under their supervision Assist in the hiring of high-quality faculty and staff Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee
