This cabinet-level position reports to the Superintendent of Schools and is responsible for the district's instructional vision, overseeing curriculum development, professional learning, academic performance, and assessment/data analysis programs. The successful candidate will possess strong instructional leadership skills, refined interpersonal and collaborative abilities, and the systems thinking to foster high-quality teaching and learning aligned with the Carle Place Portrait of a Graduate.QUALIFICATIONS: New York State SDA/SDL Certification Successful teaching experience and a minimum of five (5) years of successful district and/or building-level administrative experience. Extensive knowledge and understanding of the latest New York State Learning Standards, graduation requirements, and overall instructional best practices. Fingerprinting clearance requiredREPORTS TO: Superintendent of SchoolsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, & Innovation is responsible for leading the design and delivery of rigorous and relevant academic programs and fostering high-quality teaching and learning. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Oversight and orchestration of all curriculum and instruction Pre-K through Grade 12. Leadership in the research, development, and selection of innovative instructional methodologies and materials and their effective implementation. Demonstrated sophisticated, creative understanding of technology, social media, and communications tools. Collaboration with faculty and administrators to secure the best possible internship, work-based learning, college and career opportunities for Carle Place students Creation and coordination of a systemic professional learning program, including but not limited to Superintendent’s Conference Days, retreats, and general professional development. Supervision of K-12 Directors and school-based administrators. Oversight of NYS and local assessments, test administration, and analysis of student performance data to improve outcomes. Management of the district’s annual teacher evaluation program. Collaborative leadership in the integration of technology into curriculum and instruction. Development and delivery of presentations to the Board of Education and community. Oversight of Federal and state reporting, including NYSED mandates and data submissions. Facilitation of the new teacher and administrator orientation and mentoring process; collaborating with the Superintendent of Schools on corrective action plans. Oversight of program budgets, grant writing and management. Knowledge of restorative practices and social-emotional learning (SEL) frameworks Service as a member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet and District committees, as required. Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Twelve-month administrative position.
