CARLE PLACE UFSDCarle Place, New York 11514-1788PLEASE POST POSITION AVAILABLE: School Lunch ManagerThis posting is for transfers of employees currently in Civil Service School Lunch Manager positions.SALARY: Contractual GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:Under the general supervision of the Food Service Director, this person is responsible for the operation of the High School Food Service Program. This position requires considerable organizational skills and experience. Also required are knowledge of basic bookkeeping, record keeping skills, and report preparation. This position requires experience in all aspects of food preparation, storage, inventory procedures, ordering, and delivery of merchandise. Completion of the State Education Department H.A.A.C.P. Sanitation Course or the Nassau County Health Department Sanitation Course is required. The School Lunch Manager must have the ability to get along with people, to make decisions, handle emergencies, and have the desire to promote and participate in all aspects of the Food Service Program and to lead staff accordingly. Basic computer skills are desirable. This person must understand and execute the Food Based Nutrient Menu Patterns and all other aspects of the National School Lunch Program. SPECIFIC DUTIES:- Opens the kitchen daily & begins lunch preparation according to the menu.- Oversees the Food Service Personnel in the completion of the meal preparation, set-up, service, and the execution of all other daily tasks.- Checks the preparation of items needed for the following days menu.- Performs all the necessary daily record keeping procedures associated with the N.S.L.P.- Supervises the check-in of all deliveries, dating and storage of all food, supplies, and equipment.- Responsible for ordering of all needs, stock rotation, inventories, and for monitoring all temperatures.- Maintains and adheres to all sanitary standards, supervises and adheres to all cleaning expectations of the kitchen, serving, and storage areas. Sanitation Course certification required.- Responsible for daily sign-in and sign-out sheets, and their accuracy.- Responsible for all seasonal and promotional decorations, etc., and for creating and maintaining a cheery and pleasant atmosphere for the staff and students at all times.- Supervises and executes special orders and requests as they are received, as well as facilitating the special needs and functions and classroom requests in the building.- Oversees the closing procedures of the kitchen.- Occasional overtime is possible.- Must be familiar with the Cashier’s position, record keeping duties, N.S.L.P. counts, being able to step in and perform this position’s duties in an emergency. It is expected that all Food Service Staff be flexible and be willing to help out anywhere at any time of need to insure the smooth and responsible operation of our Food Service Program.
