The Copenhagen Central School District has an anticipated Automotive Mechanic Assistant / School Bus Driver Position opening.This position exists in a school district and involves responsibility to perform beginning level of automotive repair and minor maintenance work. The duties do not include tasks involving skilled automotive repair techniques. Incumbents report to an Automotive Mechanic or other supervisor. Does related work as required.Washes buses and performs minor maintenance tasks such as bulb, switch, wiper replacement; mirror, radio, signal and other adjustments;Checks tires and repairs flats;Changes oil and lubricates automotive equipment;Assists automotive mechanics in a variety of automotive and preventative maintenance activities;Cleans and maintains bus garage facility and equipment;Maintains vehicle fluid levels at required levels and conditions;Maintains a variety of records: vehicle, service, trip reports, mileage and inspection records; parts, tools and equipment inventories; and other required records and inventories;Orders parts, supplies and equipment and processes invoices for payment;Prepares drivers’ time cards and drivers’ reports for appropriate school officials;Assists in assigning drivers and vehicles for regular and extra trips and arranges for driver substitutes;Communicate with supervisor, transportation personnel, parents, vendors and school officials concerning the transportation program;Assists automotive mechanics with vehicle preventative maintenance and repair tasks;May operate a school bus on an assigned route,Dispatch on communication systems.
