A Child’s Place at Unity House, is looking for an Assistant Director of Special Education for it's pre-school programs.As the Director you will help shape the Special Education Department and work closely with colleagues to ensure adherence to the highest quality standards and regulations. A Child's Place is a program where children are cherished and learn and grow together in an inclusive setting. Our agency provides special education services, child care services, and UPK services. Special Education services are offered in a center-based setting as well as in the home and community setting.Responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to: Manage and operate special education programs in compliance with the state and federal laws for children ages 18 months to five years and in cooperation with the total instructional program; working in a supportive multi-disciplinary team. This position oversees special education teachers, school psychologists and social workers. In collaboration with the Director, this position supports and develops policies and procedures for IEP management and works collaboratively with local school districts, counties and outside agencies. Please make sure you have: Master's Degree and certification in Students with Disabilities Birth to Grade 2 or other related clinical field. School Administration and Supervision Certificate preferred. Two to five years’ experience in the field of early childhood education, early intervention, direct clinical/educational and two years supervisory are preferred. Knowledge in evidence-based practices needed. Proficient writing and computer skills a must. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team is required. Must have reliable transportation, current NYS driver's license and acceptable driving record as determined by our company's liability insurance policy.
