The work involves responsibility for the administration, interpretation and application of Federal, State and local regulatory requirements and prevailing professional standards for health, safety and environmental issues not regulated for participating Orange County school districts. The incumbent develops and coordinates appropriate workshops and training to keep districts current with changes in laws and regulations and acts as a liaison between the districts and the regulatory agencies responsible for enforcement of health and safety laws. As it relates to aquatics, this work involves responsibility for the daily maintenance of the swimming pool in a school, including maintaining chemical levels, inspection of pool equipment, and inspection of safety equipment. Additionally, the incumbent is also responsible for assuring sanitary conditions are met in the areas adjacent to the pool such as offices, showers and restrooms.Work is performed under the administrative direction of the Superintendent with wide leeway allowed in carrying out the details of the work. Does related work as required.Non-classified candidates must possess a School District Leader (SDL) certification issued by NYSED. Classified candidates must meet Civil Service eligibility requirements and be reachable on the competitive list of eligibles.
