In the 1900's Copiague grew in fame as a summer retreat from New York City. Guglielmo Marconi, the inventor of the wireless telegraph, spent many vacations here as the guest of a young Italian engineer. Marconi Boulevard, located near the railroad station, is reminiscent of this historic era. Copiague has a long history of pride in its diversity and strong support for its educational institutions and youth activities. Residents strongly believe that the development of their community is dependent upon the attitudes and growth of its youth. Copiague enjoys a stable, committed Board of Education, healthy parental involvement, and a record of consistent approval of the budget by community members.
