The Copiague School District is looking for a Chairperson for Home Instruction and Secondary Guidance. The Chairperson will be responsible for the coordination of secondary guidance programs as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Supports Services, and the K-12 Director of Counseling as well as coordination of home/virtual instruction. Duties will include but are not limited to:• Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the district home instruction program including both short term suspensions and the Virtual Home Instruction program.• Creating and managing schedules for students on home instruction.• Overseeing grades and attendance for students on home instruction.• Work as a liaison with secondary department chairs to ensure students on home instruction receive a high-level educational experience. • Carrying a counseling caseload of students taking part in the district home instruction program. • Evaluating and supporting school counselors at the secondary level.• Consulting with building level administration and support staff to better outcomes for students in grades 6-12.• Serving as PSAT Co-Coordinator.• Overseeing school-based SAT and ACT testing, along with SSD Coordinator responsibilities.• Annually updating the middle and high school guidance programs and carrying out assigned duties.• Make recommendations for revision of the guidance curriculum.• Supervising and coordinating college and career initiatives at the high school level.• Collecting and sharing critical information to include NYSED updates, professional development opportunities, opportunities for students, and other important information with counseling staff.• Working with secondary administrative teams on maintaining accurate student records.• Taking part in regular department meetings where appropriate.• Working with team in advertising scholarships and employment opportunities for students.• Organizing and taking part in department evening programs related to topics such as post-secondary planning, financial aid, and student success.Requirements: NYSED Guidance (7-12) certification; SBL certification and a minimum of 5 years successful experience as a guidance counselor at the secondary level.Salary: Based on experience; Chair stipend ($13,675) + longevity. 10.5 month position.Apply on OLAS
