Job Type: Full Time (10 Month)Post Date: January 13, 2026Application Deadline: January 30, 2026 Cooperstown Central School District is seeking a qualified and compassionate School Nurse to support the health, safety, and well-being of our students and school community. The School Nurse plays a vital role in promoting student health, supporting academic success, and ensuring a safe and healthy learning environment.Position SummaryThe School Nurse provides professional nursing services to students and staff, promotes wellness, assists families in addressing student health needs, and collaborates with school personnel to support students’ educational programs as they relate to health concerns.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, conduct, or assist with student health examinations and screening procedures.Maintain accurate, confidential student health records in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.Monitor immunization compliance, organize clinics, and complete required health reports and surveys.Provide first aid and emergency care for student illness or injury and arrange follow-up care when necessary.Safely store and administer medications in accordance with physician orders, district policy, and state regulations.Assist students and families in understanding health conditions and accessing appropriate medical resources.Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and the Committee on Special Education (CSE) to support students with health-related educational needs.Support attendance initiatives by facilitating medical follow-through related to health concerns.Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy school environment, including emergency preparedness and communicable disease prevention.Serve as the designated building mandated reporter for suspected child abuse or neglect.Coordinate with community agencies and local health departments as appropriate.Complete injury and insurance documentation and follow required procedures.Provide health-related support for students with physical limitations or medical conditions.Assist in the implementation of the free lunch program as it relates to student health needs.Building-Specific ResponsibilitiesElementary School Assignment:Maintain student attendance records and collect documentation for excused absences.Junior/Senior High School Assignment:Coordinate sports physicals and medical clearances for interscholastic athletes.Confer with coaches and Athletic Director regarding medical, legal, and insurance considerations.Arrange completion of physical certificates required for student working papers.QualificationsCurrent New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license required.New York State School Nurse certification preferred or willingness to obtain.Experience in school nursing or pediatric nursing preferred.Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, staff, and community partners.Knowledge of applicable health regulations, confidentiality requirements, and mandated reporting laws.Application:All application materials, including letter of application, résumé, district application for employment, copies of certification(s), and three letters of recommendation and references, must be submitted by January 30, 2025.
