VACANCY NOTICEDIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION BackgroundThe Corning-Painted Post Area School District, a system of approximately 4,400 pupils, is located in the southern tier of New York State. The area that it serves is comprised of almost 35,000 people. The leading industries in the area are Corning Incorporated, Siemens Energy, and tourism. The District has earned the reputation of providing an excellent educational opportunity for its students. Six elementary schools, one middle school and one senior high school make up the district. Historically, the community has always given the school system excellent support. Position DescriptionThe Director of Transportation will assume district-wide responsibility for overseeing the operation of the transportation system of the school district and will be directly responsible to the Assistant Superintendent for School Operations. Primary responsibilities includeEstablishes routes to be followed by various driversPrepares time schedules for busesSupervises service, maintenance and repair of all school district vehiclesWrites specifications for all new vehicles and equipmentAssists in the preparation of State Transportation reports and maps of bus routesResolves disciplinary problems with personnelSupervises and evaluates all Bus Garage staffCoordinates with bus contractors Position QualificationsMust possess a valid NYS Class B Commercial Driver License (1) Hold the Civil Service title of Transportation Supervisor; or(2) Be on the current Transportation Supervisor list in Steuben County; or(3) Possess a current NYS SDA or SDL certification (experience with Transportation preferred) Starting Date On or about January 16, 2025 Starting Salary Minimum starting salary of $90,000 Application DeadlineAll materials must be received by December 27 at 4:00 pm Application ProcessEmail a letter of interest for the position to adminjobs@cppasd.com.
