The Canajoharie Central School District has an opening for a full time (12 month/8 hr day) building maintenance worker. The position is first shift, based primarily at the high school but provides support to all buildings. Typical (some, but not all) duties for the position are outlined below. Minimum requirements: Associates degree or 4 years of experience in either general building construction or maintenance work in one or more of the standard trades such as carpentry, plumbing, or electrical. Possession of a driver’s license is required at the time of appointment.TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative only)Performs semi-skilled work in masonry, carpentry, electrical, or painting operations;Helps to install and repair wiring systems and electrical fixtures and equipment;Repairs windows, doors, floors, walls, and other parts of the building;Cleans, repairs, and maintains a variety of grounds keeping equipment such as lawnmowers, tractors, and snow blowers;Does interior and exterior painting;Helps to install and repair general plumbing equipment such as sinks, toilets, faucets, etc.;May repair laundry equipment;Assists in cleaning and repairing boilers, rooftop units, pumps, heaters, valves, traps, etc.;Mixes plaster and concrete and assists in laying brick, plastering walls, finishing concrete work, etc.;Operates trucks, automobiles, and other maintenance equipment;Takes part in general grounds maintenance activities such as mowing lawns, trimming shrubs, raking leaves, and other grounds keeping tasks;Setting up, tearing down, and cleaning up after building and grounds events and activities;Substituting for cleaners and custodians when necessary;Other duties requested by the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds.
