The Commack School District seeks qualified applicantsfor the probationary position of:Assistant Superintendent for Business and OperationsStart Date: January 6, 2026Requirements:Valid NYS SDA/SBA Certification or NYS SDBL CertificationVisible leader dedicated to continuous improvement and innovationProven leadership experience in the Business OfficeCandidates must demonstrate experience as a successful leader in the areas of public-school finance, budget development and business office operationsThe Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations is responsible for developing and promoting practices which are both fiscally and educationally sound. Responsibilities include but not limited to:Establish strategic direction and provide leadership of the financial and business operationsDevelops the annual budget, including administering a budget control system for the districtResponsible for all business affairs of the district, including administration of accounting, accounts payable, and receivable, payroll, investments, short- and long-term borrowings, risk management, purchasing, debt service and other fiscal mattersActively supervises the following departments: transportation, facilities including security and food serviceWorks with the Executive Director of Innovation and Technology regarding all aspects of the technological infrastructureLead the oversight and management of capital project budgets, ensuring alignment with district goals, fiscal responsibility, and regulatory complianceResponsible for the completion of monthly and annual financial reportsManages fund balance and reserves throughout the fiscal yearOversee the internal and external audit processWorks with the office of Human Resources on all aspects of negotiationsFosters positive relations with all stakeholdersOther duties assigned by the Superintendent of Schools Application Instructions: Applications will only be accepted through OLAS.Must submit a job specific cover letter via OLAS addressed to Mr. Scott Oshrin, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources no later than August 27, 2025.
