ApplyUniversal Pre-K TeacherGreenwich, NYDescriptionPay Range: $19.00/hour-$21.00/hour*Full-time 10 month positionPOSITION SUMMARY:Plans and implements daily program activities and curriculum for assigned classroom. Maintains program quality in accordance with NYS Universal Pre-K (UPK) Curriculum, Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) guidelines and YMCA program policies. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and promotes safety in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Plans and implements quality curriculum for classroom and ensure child-centered age appropriate lessons are offered, in accordance with NYS UPK Curriculum, OCFS guidelines and YMCA philosophies. Submits weekly lesson plans to the Director before the first day of your scheduled work week begins.Supervises classroom staff to ensure they are upholding all YMCA and/or UPK and/or OCFS guidelines for proper verbal interaction, proper learn and play techniques, as well as age appropriate redirection as a form of discipline. Ensures active participation in planning and implementing activities; and delegate responsibilities as needed.Ensures classroom staff maintain sensitivity and patience with the children and parents and provide care to meet the individual needs of the child/families. Ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times, and that staff are using correct verbal interactions with parents.Supports and role models the Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards while promoting child participation in activities and discussions about healthy living.Maintains accurate and timely records of attendance, progress and behavioral reports, as well as complete registration packet and all other program reports by required date.Informs families of weekly/monthly activities. Displays students’ work throughout classroom.Enforces and leads all YMCA and/or UPK and/or OCFS policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.Enforces and leads all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, completes related reports as required.Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps them connect with each other and the Y. Identifies potential volunteers.
