Assistant PrincipalLocation: Felix Festa Middle SchoolEffective Date: July 1, 2023Requirements: NYS Administrative Certification Leadership Experience 5 years Teaching Experience Knowledge and Experience in Pupil Services and School Counseling strongly preferredMIDDLE SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPALReports to: Middle School PrincipalRole: assist the middle school principal in the coordination, supervision and administration of the school; assume responsibility for the administration of the school in the absence of the principalPerformance Responsibilities:1. assure compliance with state and federal laws pertaining to education, Commissioner's regulations, board of education policies, regulations of the superintendent, and requirements of the negotiated contracts with school personnel2. assist in the development, supervision, and evaluation of the curriculum offered in the middle school3. assist in the supervision and evaluation of all personnel, both teaching and non-teaching4. help coordinate, analyze and evaluate the testing and grading results of assigned departments and ensure that accurate records are maintained5. participate in the review of new textbooks and course offerings6. assist in the development, supervision, and evaluation of staff development activities, including Curriculum Days and Superintendent Conference Days7. aid in the recruitment, selection, assignment, retention, and dismissal of professional staff8. help organize and manage a comprehensive program of pupil activities9. assist in the administrative routines in the building including pupil personnel, budget preparation, administrative reports, master schedule, transportation schedules, and extra-curricular school funds as assigned by the building principal10. enforce general discipline and a safe, healthy school environment11. assist in administering local scholarships12. assist in the orientation of new teachers13. help promote positive community relationships through participation in school and community activities which encourage dialogue regarding school programs and procedures14. foster personal growth through participation in seminars, conferences, professional organizations, and staff development activities15. shall act on campus in an appropriate and professional manner recognizing his or her status as a role model for students and that the purpose for his or her presence on campus is the education of said students16. participate as a member of the administrative team in assisting the principal and perform such other duties as may be requested by the building principal.
