NYS Administrative CertificationAdministrative experience5 Years Teaching Experience Job Title: Coordinator of K-12 Innovation in Science, Technology, and EngineeringReports to: Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and InstructionPosition Summary: The Coordinator will support all staff in the implementation of the district K-12 science, technology, and engineering curriculum, instruction, and assessment. The Coordinator will also work with teachers to provide professional development and facilitate professional learning communities. The Coordinator will work with administrators, department chairs, and teachers to advance the area of science, technology, and engineering districtwide.Responsibilities:Assure compliance with State and Federal laws pertaining to education, Commissioner’s regulations, Board of Education policies, regulations of the Superintendent and requirements of the negotiated contracts with school personnel.Guide development, implementation, and evaluation of K-12 science, technology, and engineering curricula and instructional programs.Encourage the development, publication, and use of beneficial science, technology, and engineering instructional materials by the professional staff.Coordinate and edit science, technology, and engineering curricula guides and materials prepared by and to be distributed among the instructional staff.Study, evaluate and, as appropriate, recommend adoption of new science, technology, and engineering instructional materials, methods, and programs.Plan and deliver science, technology, and engineering professional development for instructional personnel and parents as well as project manage external professional developer relationships.Work with the administration in organizing and coordinating grade level and departmental meetings in order to effect articulation of the district’s science, technology, and engineering curricula and instructional strategies.Coordinate with the science, technology, and engineering department chairs and other core curriculum departments to ensure integrated programs.Facilitate science, technology, and engineering professional learning communities.Work with the building principals in the improvement of individual staff science, technology, and engineering competencies.Observe teachers in their classes upon the request of principals or Assistant Superintendent for Personnel and K-12 Curriculum and Instruction and/or the Director for Learning and Teaching; and offer suggestions for the improvement of the teaching-learning environment.Model and demonstrate best practice and developmentally appropriate science, technology, and engineering instruction, in the field; provide in-classroom coaching in effective instructional strategies and classroom management.Participate in activities related to science, technology, and engineering curriculum, instruction and assessment on regional, state and national levels.Work with administrators, department chairs, and teachers to collect, analyze, and interpret data in the areas of science, technology, and engineering to drive instructional decisions and increase opportunities for all students to access science, technology, and engineering pathways.Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned. Technical Skills:Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Access as well as Google Suite applications.
