The Coordinator, Special Projects Coordinates and monitors assigned special projects, initiatives, and program activities to support timely and effective implementation. The coordinator assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies, procedures and programs to ensure the efficiency of specialized projects, including researching and gathering pertinent information and preparing reports. Responsibilities: 1. Project Support: • Monitor projects to ensure the quality of work, identify problem areas, and make recommendations for improvement, as necessary • Assesses the effectiveness of special projects, programs and operational initiatives as they relate to business office or related services and provides updates and recommendations to the administration and the board within the department or agency 2. Professional Development: • Review and analyze potential security staffing models, support the rollout of any selected model, and assist with developing related training materials • Assist in the evaluation, coordination, and revision of safety and security training programs for staff and security personnel • Deliver professional learning experiences that enhance staff effectiveness and program outcomes 3. Compliance: • Monitor and assess new compliance and training requirements related to New York State Education Department (NYSED) regulations and District policies 4. Community and External Engagement: • Assist in developing procedures and tools to support schools in monitoring and addressing chronic absenteeism, including tracking methods and outreach procedures • Assist in developing procedures and identifying information sources to support the verification of student residency • May require field or home visits 5. Other: • May represent the department of agency’s administration at various meetings, forums and legislative board proceedings • May assist in implementing timely, efficient and cost-effective programs by establishing priorities, resolving problems, making recommendations for improvements and responding to emergencies Qualifications: - Education: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and five (5) years of paid work experience coordinating and implementing phases of projects or programs, troubleshooting and resolving issues and/or developing policies and procedures; or An Associate’s degree or equivalent college credits beyond high school (a minimum of sixty (60) credits) and three (3) years of paid work experience coordinating and implementing phases of projects or programs, troubleshooting and resolving issues and/or developing policies and procedures; or A Bachelor’s degree or higher and one (1) year of paid work experience coordinating and implementing phases of projects or programs, troubleshooting and resolving issues and/or developing policies and procedures. - Experience: At least five (5) years of project implementation and/or support involving the ability to identify and resolve problems; establishing and maintaining effective cooperative working relationships with employees, vendors/contractors and the general public; designing and delivering professional learning using adult learning theories - Professional Development: At least five (5) years of experience developing and delivering employee education programs especially in the areas of health, security and safety. Skills and Competencies: • Knowledge of the principles and practices of project coordination • Ability to prepare a variety of reports and use of related software tools • Ability to understand and interpret a variety of written and tabular material • Ability to plan and implement special projects and programs • Ability to coordinate complex programs and manage multiple projects simultaneously • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Work Conditions: - Full-time, 10-month position with responsibilities in schools, performance venues, and district administrative offices - Position requires 10 additional workdays during summer months - Evening and weekend hours may be required for events, data collection or professional learning sessions
