The Supervisor of Pupil Personnel Services provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of student support services to ensure the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral success of all students by using data to guide decision-making, program development, and continuous improvement. This position directly supervises the District’s Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) programs, Student Assistance Counselors, and School Psychologists, while collaborating with school leaders, staff, families, and community partners to promote a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.Responsibilities:1. Leadership & Program Oversight- Provide direction and supervision for the District’s SEL initiatives, ensuring alignment with the Portrait of a Learner, District strategic priorities, and New York State standards.- Supervise Student Assistance Counselors and School Psychologists, fostering best practices in prevention, intervention, and student support services.- Serve as the District liaison for McKinney-Vento, ensuring identification, enrollment, and support services for students experiencing homelessness, while coordinating with families, schools, and community agencies.- Oversee the District’s Home Instruction and Home Schooling programs, ensuring compliance with state regulations and providing guidance to families and staff.- Monitor and ensure District-wide compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, including oversight of identification, accommodation plans, and procedural safeguards.- Serve as the District Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) Coordinator, ensuring compliance with state mandates, overseeing building-level DASA coordinators, and promoting a safe, inclusive school climate.- Chair Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings as needed, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and supporting high-quality special education programming.- Lead and support District and Building Crisis Teams, ensuring effective planning, training, coordination, and response to student or community crises.- Schedule and chair intake meetings for mental health supports and referrals, coordinating services with school psychologists, counselors, social workers, and outside providers to ensure timely student support.2. Collaboration & Consultation- Partner with building administrators, teachers, and support staff to embed SEL practices into daily instruction and school culture.- Serve as a resource for principals and district leaders in addressing student mental health, crisis intervention, behavioral supports, home instruction, and homeschooling.- Work with Section 504 building coordinators to support consistent practices and compliance across the district.- Facilitate partnerships with families and community agencies to enhance access to social-emotional, mental health, and wellness resources.3. Supervision & Professional Development- Conduct regular evaluations and provide ongoing coaching for Student Assistance Counselors and School Psychologists.- Lead professional development opportunities to strengthen SEL practices, mental health supports, and 504 procedures across the district.- Promote a collaborative, team-oriented approach within the PPS department.4. Student Success & Well-Being- Champion a whole-child approach that prioritizes the social, emotional, academic, and mental health needs of students.- Coordinate crisis response protocols and provide leadership in times of student or community crisis.- Support welcoming practices in all aspects of student services.- Ensure timely communication and support for families engaged in home instruction or homeschooling.- Assist schools in addressing chronic absenteeism, collaborating with administrators, counselors, and families to develop intervention plans and provide supports that improve student attendance and engagement.Qualifications:- Valid New York State School District Leader (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA) certification required.- Minimum of five years of experience in pupil personnel services, counseling, psychology, or related field.- Demonstrated leadership in SEL program implementation, student support services, mental health initiatives, and regulatory compliance (including 504, home instruction, and homeschooling).- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, families, and community stakeholders.Skills and Competencies:- Strong knowledge of instructional design, curriculum implementation, and assessmentpractices- Ability to lead, coach, and support instructional staff effectively- Proficiency in using data to inform instructional decisions and evaluate program outcomes- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills- Commitment to equity, innovation, and high expectations for all studentsWork Conditions:- Full-time, 12-month position with duties both in school settings and at the district administrative offices- Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for meetings, events, or professional development sessionsApplications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
