The Director of Learning Pathways (Grades 6–12) provides visionary leadership to guide and oversee a coherent, innovative, and vertically aligned instructional program across middle and high schools. Working in collaboration with school leaders, department chairs, and instructional staff, the Director leads curriculum development, instructional improvement, professional learning, and program evaluation to ensure that secondary students are prepared to meet the demands of the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards. This position plays a critical role on the Curriculum & Instruction team and supports the continuous improvement of teaching and learning across grades 6–12.Responsibilities:1. Curriculum & Instruction Team Support:Serve as an essential member of the Curriculum & Instruction team, actively participating in professional learning planningDesigns and facilitates New Professionals Institute (NPI) sessionsAttends all leadership meetings organized by principals and provides support to team membersConduct observations as part of the Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) process2. Program Oversight and Instructional Leadership:Provide visionary leadership to promote the development of an innovative and coherent instructional program for grades 6–12Possess deep knowledge of research-based practices relevant to secondary instruction, with particular emphasis on alignment to the New York State Next Generation Learning StandardsSupervise curriculum, instruction, and assessment initiatives across grades 6–12 (Felix Festa Middle School, Clarkstown High School South, Clarkstown High School North, and Birchwood), in collaboration with secondary principalsFacilitate curricular review of 6–12 programs aligned with Board of Education policiesResearch and recommend instructional programs, materials, and curricula to enhance existing resources and support student learning3. Professional Development:Design and deliver professional learning opportunities that promote teacher growth and program effectivenessCoordinate department chairs’ efforts to provide targeted support and coaching for classroom teachers, enabling them to lead professional learning4. Data Analysis and Program Improvement:Utilize student performance data to monitor academic progress and drive ongoing program evaluation and improvementEnsure that instructional resources are allocated effectively and equitably to meet students' educational needs5. Other:Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and InstructionQualifications:Education: Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related fieldCertification: New York State (NYS) School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) certificationExperience: Demonstrated experience in secondary humanities teaching, curriculum development, and instructional leadership is strongly preferred; Prior administrative, supervisory, or teacher leadership experience in grades 6–12 is requiredSkills and Competencies:Strong knowledge of instructional design, curriculum implementation, and assessment practicesAbility to lead, coach, and support instructional staff effectivelyProficiency in using data to inform instructional decisions and evaluate program outcomesExcellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skillsCommitment to equity, innovation, and high expectations for all studentsWork Conditions:Full-time, 12-month position with duties both in school settings and at the district administrative officesOccasional evening or weekend hours may be required for meetings, events, or professional development sessions
