Student Assistance Counselor**Provisional Civil Service Position Full TimeK-12 School**Civil Service Provisional Appointment – An appointment in the competitive class forwhich there is no eligible list or the list has fewer than (3) names. The appointee musttake and pass an appropriate examination and be reachable for appointment from theresulting eligible list. Your Civil Service probationary period of eight to twenty-sixweeks will begin once you are appointed from an eligible list. Your Civil Servicepermanent status cannot be achieved until the aforementioned criteria are met.**Civil Service positions will be filled consistent with Rockland County Department ofPersonnel’s requirements. Civil Service eligible list will be canvassed when available.Minimum Civil Service qualifications:a. A Master's degree in Social Work and one (1) year of full time client contactexperience in counseling, casework, mental health, probation, or social workwhich must have involved working with drug and/or alcohol abusing youth in asupervised setting; orb. A Master's degree in Counseling, School or Clinical Psychology, PsychiatricNursing, or a related field and three (3) years of the experience described in (a)above.
