Overview: Horace Greeley High School is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Athletic Trainer to join our athletics department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sports medicine and a passion for promoting the health and well-being of student-athletes. This role involves preventing, diagnosing, and treating sports-related injuries, as well as providing rehabilitation services to ensure the safe return of athletes to their respective sports.Key Responsibilities:Injury Prevention and Assessment:Develop and implement injury prevention programs for student-athletes.Conduct initial assessments of athletic injuries and determine appropriate treatment plans.Collaborate with coaches to ensure safe practices and techniques during training and competitions.Treatment and Rehabilitation:Provide first aid and emergency care for acute sports injuries.Design and supervise rehabilitation programs for injured athletes to ensure effective recovery.Use therapeutic modalities and equipment to assist in the treatment and rehabilitation process.Education and Counseling:Educate student-athletes on injury prevention, nutrition, and overall health and wellness.Counsel athletes on safe participation in sports and proper conditioning practices.Conduct workshops and informational sessions for athletes, coaches, and parents.Administrative Duties:Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all student-athletes.Coordinate medical referrals and communicate with physicians, as necessary.Manage the athletic training room, including inventory and maintenance of equipment and supplies.Team Collaboration:Work closely with the athletic director, coaches, school nurse, and other staff members to ensure comprehensive care for student-athletes.Attend team practices, games, and other events to provide on-site medical support.Participate in meetings and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in athletic training.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or a related field (Master’s preferred).Certification by the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers.New York State licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Athletic Trainer.Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.Previous experience working with high school athletes preferred.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to work effectively in a team environment.Knowledge of injury prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation techniques.Working Conditions:Variable hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on athletic schedules.Physical ability to perform tasks requiring physical exertion, such as lifting, carrying, and moving equipment.Exposure to various weather conditions while attending outdoor sports events.Interested candidates need to apply on OLAS and also submit a resume, cover letter to: jablock@chappaquaschools.orgApplications will be accepted until the position is filled.
