The Chappaqua Central School District is a community of six schools serving approximately approximately 3500 students in Westchester County. Chappaqua CSD is looking for thoughtful and knowledgeable educator to serve in the anticipated probationary position of Speech Language Pathologist at Horace Greeley High School beginning 12/2/2024.Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Demonstrate experience in utilizing research-based speech and language intervention strategies.Successful experience as a school based speech and language therapist.Knowledge and experience in special and general education, pedagogy, and assessment (including data analysis).Able to administer, analyze and score standardized assessments to generate the necessary reports and recommendations. Provides mandated speech and language therapy for students as described on each student's IEP.Able to develop and monitor IEP goals and objectives.Serve as the Speech and Language Pathologist at CSE meetings for students, demonstrating a strong knowledge of the CSE process, referral and evaluation processes and IEP development.Maintains IEP compliance, student files and rosters for the school team.Participate as a member of the school based Child Study Team.Interprets assessment findings and conveys information to parents and school staff.Develops and implements intervention strategies.Serves as resource to parents, school staff and administration.Collaborates with community therapists and other healthcare providers for effective coordination of speech and language services.Assesses the need for assistive technology and equipment and makes recommendations for its use at school to help students function as independently as possible.Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research, and by maintaining professional relationships.Fosters a positive and inclusive classroom environment that prioritizes the social and emotional well-being of students and nurtures a sense of belonging.Implements evidence-based social-emotional learning strategies to promote emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of the RULER approach is preferred.Utilizes current educational research to inform instructional practices, ensuring lessons are grounded in evidence-based methods.Implements formative assessments regularly to gauge student understanding.Incorporates formative and summative data analysis into lesson planning to tailor instruction and address individual learning needs.Infuses culturally relevant practices into curriculum design, ensuring that lessons reflect the diverse backgrounds and experiences of all students.Integrates diverse perspectives and voices into instructional materials and resources to broaden students' understanding of the world.Engages in regular, collaborative professional development to enhance collective knowledge and skills, reinforcing the idea that the team's efficacy is greater than individual efforts alone.Uses NYS standards as a foundation for setting clear learning goals and expectations for students, providing a roadmap for their academic progress.Certification/Experience:NYS Speech and Language Disabilities Certification Previous experience as an SLP preferred.
