The Chappaqua Central School District is a community of six schools serving 3500 students in Westchester County. Chappaqua CSD is looking for a thoughtful and knowledgeable educator to serve in the anticipated leave replacement position of Elementary ELA/SS Teacher (fifth grade) at the Middle School level at Robert E. Bell Middle School from mid-January 2024 - the end of March 2024.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Thorough knowledge of the NYS ELA and Social Studies Standards with a strong literacy background. Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.Strong understanding of adolescent development.Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunities.Strong knowledge of reading and writing workshops and the TC Units of Study.Candidate should be proficient in project-based learning and differentiation of instruction.Willing and able to work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planning.Experience with social and emotional learning preferred.Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs.Encourages family involvement in students education and ensures effective communication with students and families.Certifications/Experience:Required: NYS Childhood Education Gr. 1 - 6 CertificationThis position includes a competitive salary and extensive opportunities for professional development and mentor support.Application deadline: ASAPSalary Range: TBD
