The Chappaqua Central School District is a community of six schools serving 3500 students in Westchester County. Chappaqua CSD is looking for a thoughtful and knowledgeable educator to serve in the anticipated probationary position of Choral Music Teacher (Grades 9-12) at Horace Greeley High School beginning 8/31/2023.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Develops and actualizes a music program consistent with school district vision, goals and objectives.Skilled instruction in the training and development of teenage voices.Familiarity with the literature appropriate for high school vocal ensembles.Piano performance skills preferred.Must be able to teach electives in electronic music, music theory and musical theater history.Preparing students for NYSSMA solo evaluations.Ability to instruct students in singing, harmonization, and chorus as needed.Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and inquiry based learning experiences.Develops a balanced music program and lessons to organize class time so that students have adequate time for preparation, rehearsal, and instruction.Utilizes repertoire of all types of music literature, as appropriate.Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and families.Coordinates and collaborates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.Certification/License:New York State Certification as a Music Teacher Gr. 7 - 12.Experience:Significant experience as a vocalist and choral director at the high school level.Coaching singers for musical productions preferred.This position includes a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and extensive opportunities for professional development and mentor support.Application deadline: ASAP Salary Range: $69,426 - $149,200Please apply on OLAS for this position and through our website www.chappaquaschools.org (click the “Join Our Team” logo in the upper right corner of the home page).
