The Chappaqua Central School District is a community of six schools serving 3500 students in Westchester County. Chappaqua CSD is looking for thoughtful and knowledgeable educators to serve in the anticipated probationary position of DEI Staff Developer beginning 8/31/2023. Position Purpose:This full-time professional developer position is designed to support the growth of staff members and to ensure that our students have access to the very best instructional programs. The successful candidate will join a robust and talented professional development team of teachers and leaders, and will work directly with the central office.Although this is a 10-month teaching position, additional compensation is provided for a significant summer commitment.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Provide professional learning and instructional support.Ability to support and model progressive and innovative instructional methods.Work directly with our teachers on lesson design and instructional coaching, developing culturally competent mindsets and practices. Focused work will include training and professional development for staff in SEL, culturally responsive teaching, Universal Design for Learning and anti-racism instructional practices. Knowledge of various professional development methods including teacher coaching, mentoring, workshops, and professional development coursesLead the development and revision of curricula based on findings, working toward ensuring representation of a diversity of perspectives, authors and characters; a focus on social justice; and resources for customizing curriculum to meet students’ unique needs and interests. Serve as members of our data team charged with disaggregating and analyzing student performance data across subgroups at consistent points across the year. Support our English language learners by focusing on translation services, access to instructional materials, and connections to new families.Strong interpersonal skills with all key stakeholders to help build and nurture a culture of continuous growthCommitment to personal professional growth Certifications/Experience:Elementary teaching certification OR Secondary teaching certification. Extensive successful teaching experience, and successful experience supporting adult professional learning.
