CAIRO-DURHAM CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT High School Principal Date: April 25, 2023Position Title: High School PrincipalStart Date: July 1, 2023Position Status: FT - 12-month position; tenure per NYSED regulationsReports to: Superintendent of Schools The Cairo-Durham Central School District is now accepting applications for a High School Principal who is a dynamic educator that engenders collaboration and is driven to motivate and mobilize faculty, students and parents to pursue a vision of academic excellence and the commitment to achieve desired results. The successful candidate will be someone who: Essential Duties:Provides leadership and oversight of instructional programming and school operations to build a school culture that fosters the educational development of each student.Assumes responsibility for the management of the school in accordance with New York school law, State Board of Education rules and regulations, Board of Education policies, and District wide regulations, procedures, and contractual obligations.Exercises leadership in school-level planning in alignment with District-wide vision, mission and goals for improvement of teachers’ practices and decisions.Understands and values effective communication and partners with faculty & staff, students, parents and community agencies to achieve the school’s goals.Cultivates and maintains a respectful, cooperative and supportive relationship with the administration, faculty & staff, students, parents and the entire school community.Employs a hands-on approach to leadership by remaining visible, involved and active in all facets of the school.In conjunction with the Director of Curriculum & Instruction, participates in the selection of appropriate instructional materials.Monitors the delivery, implementation, evaluation and revision of instructional and social-emotional programming. Has a clear understanding of the continuum of Special Education Services and understands the role of the Principal in the provision of these services to best support our students with disabilities.Understands and is responsive to meeting the diverse learning needs and social-emotional challenges facing our student population.Interviews, recommends for appointment, assigns, supervises and evaluates the performance of all school employees and assists them in achievement of their job goals.Conducts observations of teaching staff members, prepares written comments and offers constructive suggestions for improvement when appropriate.Strategically plans, prepares and submits the school’s budget requests and monitors the expenditures of funds.Ensures the safekeeping of confidential records and documents, inclusive of faculty, staff and students and uses discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.Prepares or supervises the preparation of all reports, data tracking systems and other paperwork required by the District’s administration.Understand and utilizes a distributive leadership model to facilitate school improvement and to ensure the proper execution of the school’s systems and structure.Make arrangements for special conferences as necessary.Attends required meetings and serves on committees, as appropriate.Continues to grow professionally through collaboration with colleagues and by staying current with professional literature and professional development opportunities.Performs any duties that are within the scope of employment and certifications as assigned and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation. Qualifications, Experience and Competencies:New York State Certification as School Administrator Supervisor (SAS)/School Building Leader (SBL), and/or School District Administrator (SDA)/School District Leader (SDL) with experience as an Administrator in a public school setting with demonstrated leadership experience in building administration.A leader who can facilitate and collaborate a progressive educational vision and who possesses the ability to build consensus with staff, students, and parents.
