Cohoes City School District is looking for a dynamic School Social Worker who is passionate about supporting the social, emotional, behavioral and mental health needs of students. Under the direction of the Principal, the successful candidate will use their expertise to promote a positive school climate in the planning and implementation of its major initiatives, The Positivity Project and No Place for Hate, among other more typical school social worker responsibilities. These include, but are not limited to, addressing the social and psychological issues that can block academic progress through group and individual counseling, crisis intervention, and prevention programs. Through collaboration with the Cohoes High School team, this role ensures that students will receive consistent instruction in the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) framework, set and achieve positive goals, experience improved school connectedness and become better learners. This role will plan and lead professional development for all staff in topics that support the implementation of these initiatives, (Positivity Project, PBIS). Must have: NYS certification in School Social Worker and NYS MSW license.
