The position of the Secretary to the District Superintendent/District Clerk assists the Superintendent in the daily operation of the district in the planning, implementing, directing and maintaining of District programs by providing a wide variety of complex and confidential administrative and secretarial support; analyzing requests and providing recommendations for action; communicating information on behalf of the Superintendent, district and the Board of Education to its staff, parents, the public, other districts, and public agencies. This role encompasses all of the duties of the District Clerk and is responsible for the agenda and minutes of all Board of Education meetings, as well as associated responsibilities such as elections public hearings, work sessions, among others. This position reports to the District Superintendent. This position requires performance of many of the District Clerk role outside of the normal workday. This role supports at least two (2) board meetings a month, annual Budget and Board of Election voting; other sessions and activities that are held outside of the normal workday. This is an exempt appointment in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law. Candidate must meet the minimum qualifications:a. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the NYS Board of Regents to grant degrees with an Associate’s degree in secretarial science or closely related field and two (2) years of clerical experience which involved the operation of a computer for word-processing, database or spreadsheet applications; orb. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four (4) years of experience as defined in (a); orc. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b).
