This is expected to be a one-year assignment. The ideal candidate has a strong background in instructional leadership with prior experience as an Assistant Superintendent, a Superintendent or a Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Position The successful candidate is a strong educational leader with an in-depth background in curriculum development, instruction, assessment, supervision and professional learning. They will assist the Superintendent in carrying out the strategic vision for curriculum and instruction. They will function as the spokesperson and resident expert on curriculum, instruction, pedagogy, and learning. Effectiveness in this position is dependent upon collaborative, collegial relationships cultivated throughout the organization with administrators, staff, students, and families.Applicants for this position should demonstrate:Strong leadership experience in aligning curriculum and instruction to NYS learning standardsPractice in designing learning environments to meet the needs of all learnersSkill and expertise in the use of data to inform curricular, instructional and programmatic decision makingA deep understanding of and commitment to equity informed and trauma sensitive practicesEvidence of effective support for the integration of technology into instruction and professional developmentThe ability to build consensus through collaborative decision makingA strong student-centered focusThe ability to plan and present professional learning experiences for administrators, teachers and staffAn understanding of the importance of fiscal responsibility in a small city school districtExcellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills Authenticity, integrity, and honesty Additional RequirementsNew York State certification as a School District Administrator, (SDA), or School District Leader, (SDL), is required; permanent certification in a teaching fieldMasters Degree from an accredited institutionSuccessful experience as an Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent or Director of Curriculum and Instruction.Candidates must submit resumes to hrpostings@cohoes.org or OLAS and should include placement credentials, academic transcripts, verification of NYS SDA or SDL certification, and three recent letters of recommendation.
