However, we will consider individuals who are currently in the process of obtaining their NYS certification and will be certified by September 1, 2024. Teacher expectations overview: Knowledge of NYS Instructional Standards in multi-leveled support (tiers of increasingly intense intervention) responding to student-specific needs; assessing students' literacy performance, including but not limited to identifying dyslexia; providing appropriate instruction for students experiencing difficulty in acquiring literacy skills and providing literacy services to students in special education programs Excellent student engagement skills (motivation, communication, and classroom management) with a goal of sustaining student interest and cooperation to student's achieving mastery through a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to each student Participates with colleagues as a collaborative team player in providing instruction and assessment; teaching all aspects of literacy acquisition, including but not limited to phonemic awareness, phonics skills, word identification, vocabulary skills, study strategies and strategies for building comprehension, constructing meaning, and building literacy in the content areas Excellent parent engagement and relationship building skills Understands urban schools and communities Supports the district goals of equity, literacy and graduation concerning all studentsAbility to inspire students to learn and make learning fun Models a growth mindset Ability to use classroom technology Please apply through OLAS with a letter of interest, your resume, proof of certification and any supporting materials including at least 3 professional references, 2 of which must be supervisory.
