With the goal of immersing students in learning to become creative thinkers, life-long learners and effective problem-solvers, the ideal candidate is committed to student academic success.BUILDING MAINTENANCE MECHANIC (Civil Service Competitive) Required knowledge, skills and abilities: Thorough knowledge of practices, processes, materials and tools of one principal building trade; good knowledge of the practices and techniques of one or more additional building trades; broad knowledge of ordinary techniques and practices employed in a building and grounds maintenance and operation program; ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions of ordinary difficulty; ability to supervise and get along well with others; honesty; initiative; good judgment; good physical condition. Acceptable Experience and Training: One year of acceptable journeymen experience in one of the recognized skilled trades; OR Five years of experience in building construction or building trades works. Special Requirement: A valid NYS Drivers license is also required.***Snow removal is required*** Schedule: Work Year - 12-month work year Start Date: June 5, 2023 Salary: As per the CSEA contract Appt: Vacancies are filled by a certified list provided by the City of Cohoes Civil Service. Should no certified list be available, candidates appointed to this position will be serving in a provisional appointment in accordance with New York State Civil Service Law. The candidate must successfully complete a competitive examination and be eligible for appointment in accordance with Civil Service Rules for the City of Cohoes Civil Service to obtain a permanent appointment.
