Cazenovia Central School is seeking is seeking a compassionate and skilled Behavior Support Specialist to join our team at Burton Street Elementary. This position plays a key role in promoting positive student behavior and supporting the social-emotional and behavioral needs of all learners. The Behavior Support Specialist will collaborate with teachers, support staff, administrators, and families to strengthen school-wide systems and provide direct support to students at the Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 levels within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).Responsibilities Include:Tier 1 (School-Wide Support)- Collaborate with staff to enhance the school’s positive behavior framework and ensure consistent implementation of expectations.- Support teachers in proactive classroom management and restorative practices.- Analyze behavior data to identify trends and inform prevention strategies.- Provide coaching and professional development to staff on behavior support, de-escalation, and reinforcement systems.- Promote a positive and inclusive school climate aligned with the values of Burton Street Elementary.Tier 2 (Targeted Support)- Identify students in need of targeted interventions and collaborate with the MTSS team to plan supports.- Facilitate small group interventions focused on social skills, self-regulation, and problem-solving.- Monitor student progress and intervention fidelity through data collection and reflection with staff.- Communicate with families regarding intervention plans and progress.Tier 3 (Intensive Support)- Work directly with students requiring intensive behavioral support.- Collaborate with counselors, psychologists, and external service providers to ensure coordinated care.Requirements:- Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field.- Experience working in a school or youth setting supporting student behavior and social-emotional development.- Knowledge of MTSS and effective behavior support strategies.- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.- Ability to collect, analyze, and use behavioral data to inform decision-making.- Training or experience in crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques.Preferred:- Master’s degree in education, special education, school counseling, psychology, or social work.- New York State certification in one of the following areas:- Elementary Education- School Counselor- School Psychologist- Special Education Teacher- Social Worker- Behavior Specialist or BCBA certification- Familiarity with restorative and trauma-informed practices.Personal Attributes:- Demonstrates empathy, patience, and a commitment to student success.- Reflective, collaborative, and responsive to feedback.- Dedicated to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and positive school community.Please apply directly through OLAS, and reach out to Kevin Linck (Assistant Superintendent) at 315-655-1317, or klinck@caz.cnyric.org with questions.
