Assistant Director of Pupil Personnel ServicesMinimum Qualifications New York State Special Education Certification (K-12 preferred) and School District Leader Minimum of five years of educational leadership experience Demonstrated proficiency in communications (oral and written), problem solving, and interpersonal relations. Strong knowledge of New York State Part 200 and 201 Regulations. Demonstrated ability to analyze student evaluations and determine student needs for support. Experience with preschool and elementary population preferred Job Summary -Twelve-month position responsible for the individual education programs (IEPs) for all in and out of district students grades PreK-12, including initial referrals, program and annual reviews, and reevaluation reviews -Responsible for ensuring that the District is in full compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations regarding individuals with disabilities; periodically reviews and revises procedures, as necessary, in response to state mandates -Collaborate with district, building administrators, and department chairs to determine student needs, programming and scheduling needs -Develop and implement professional learning opportunities for special education staff -Plan and participate in district parent meetings in collaboration with the Director of PPS and Assistant Superintendent of PPS -Evaluates assigned programs on an ongoing basis and recommends changes, as needed, for efficiency and effectiveness -Knowledgeable of all legal requirements, trends and practices pertaining to special education and other pupil service programs; disseminates professional information to district and building administrators -Assists in developing district procedures in compliance with regulations, law and policy -Facilitates the sharing of information among teachers, administrators and other appropriate school personnel to ensure understanding of the students’ needs and proper delivery of special education services -Maintains accurate records, regarding special education enrollment, special education teachers and their assignments -Plan and supervise ESY programming -Conduct 504 meetings -Conduct manifestation determination meetings as needed -Participate in interviewing candidates for the special education department positions. -Observe and evaluate K-12 special education teachers and staff using the Danielson Rubric as part of the APPR process -Represent the District at Impartial Hearings -Serve as a liaison between the school district and community agencies, as well as local, state, and federal organizations -Assist in the management of budgetary matters related to pupil personnel services programs and ensure effective allocation of resources
