Position Summary: The PreK Family School Navigator acts as a vital bridge connecting PreK families with the school community. The primary purpose of this role is to foster a welcoming, supportive, and collaborative environment that eases the transition into the school system. By maintaining open lines of communication, addressing family inquiries, and assisting with the planning of impactful engagement activities, the Navigator ensures that families are active partners in their child's early education. Additionally, this position is responsible for coordinating and leading the My Turn At Three! program, a targeted initiative designed to prepare three-year-olds and their caregivers for a successful school experience. Qualifications: New York State Certification in Early Childhood or Childhood Education preferred Minimum of five years teaching experience in primary grades Terms of Employment: Schedule to be determined by PreK Coordinator Compensation - $30,000 per year Performance Responsibilities: Serve as a point of contact for PreK families, offering a warm, accessible resource for questions, concerns, and school navigation. Proactively reach out to families to build trusting, culturally responsive relationships. Assist families in navigating school enrollment, attendance policies, and accessing available community resources. Facilitate two-way communication between parents and PreK instructional staff to ensure alignment between home and school. Assist with planning, coordinating, and executing interactive family engagement activities, field trips, and school events tailored to early childhood development. Plan, facilitate and manage all aspects of the My Turn At Three! program, welcoming and acclimating three-year-olds and their families to the school environment. Design and lead age-appropriate transition activities that introduce children to preschool routines while equipping caregivers with strategies to support early learning at home. Track program participation and gather feedback to continually improve readiness outcomes. Maintain accurate records of family contacts, event attendance, and program participation. Collaborate with school leadership to assess the effectiveness of family engagement initiatives and identify areas for growth. Conduct universal screening assessment of PreK students. Provide additional support in PreK classrooms throughout the district. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the PreK Coordinator to support the overall success and evolving needs of the PreK program.
