Assistant Director of Special Services, K-12, Health Services Under the supervision of the Director of Special Services, facilitate effective instructional programs for students with disabilities and assist with the operation of the District’s Special Education programs and services. Oversee mild/moderate programs and teacher aides. Assist in the planning, development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of programs for individuals who qualify for special education services; provide training to special and general education faculty, support staff and parents; implement progress monitoring systems; and serve as a resource in the assessment and instructional planning of individuals who qualify for special education services. Major Responsibilities: Work collaboratively with school staff and other District staff to research and implement effective programs for students with disabilities at District schools. Participate in the design, coordination and implementation of collaborative programs that support Least Restrictive Environment; provide direct support and assistance to administrators and teachers. Plan and support professional development regarding instructional programs and strategies for students with disabilities. Supervise and evaluate special education faculty and support staff. Identify instructional techniques and strategies that improve the achievement of special education students in both special education and general education classes; provide classroom support. Integrate researched-based instructional programs and strategies for students with disabilities that align with the District’s general education program. Assist with special education curriculum revision and development. Analyze data and apply the analysis in assisting special education staff and related service providers in implementing age/grade appropriate programs and services for students with disabilities. Assist with training for all District staff on special education laws, regulations and district procedures. Consult and collaborate with administrators, faculty, support staff, and parents on the management of individual student needs and desired outcomes. Perform other tasks and assume responsibilities as may be assigned. Requirements: Special Education classroom and Administrative experience desired NYS SDL Certification
