The H. C. Crittenden Counselor position requires someone who believes in the potential of all students and demonstrates an ability to engage and inspire them. Additionally, we seek someone who understands the beauty of the middle school child, possesses a strong understanding of middle school teaming and seeks to partner with their colleagues, parents and administration.The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:Extensive experience with middle level adolescentsExcellent skills in academic advisement, evidence-based theories and best practices, and student advocacyPossesses strong understanding of the social emotional needs and interventions necessary to aid in students growthUnderstands and values the collaborative nature of middle school teaming and the integral role that a counselor can playFull familiarity with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model and how it can be used to support the mission of the middle school and districtValid New York State certification as a school counselor required
