Position Overview The Bay Shore Union Free School District is seeking a visionary and dedicated leader to serve as the Director of Pupil Personnel Services . The Director of PPS is responsible for the planning, development, coordination, and evaluation of all special education programs and student support services. The successful candidate will be a champion for equity, ensuring that every student has access to the resources and support necessary to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Key Responsibilities Program Leadership: Oversee the district’s Special Education programs (CSE/CPSE) and Section 504 compliance. Student Support: Direct the operations of special education teachers, school psychologists, social workers, and related service providers. Compliance & Advocacy: Ensure strict adherence to federal and state mandates (IDEA, Part 200 regulations) while advocating for inclusive practices and the "least restrictive environment." Fiscal Management: Manage the PPS budget, including the procurement of grants and oversight of contracted services. Community Engagement: Serve as a liaison between the district and families, fostering transparent communication and collaborative partnerships. Staff Development: Lead recruitment, supervision, and professional growth initiatives for our pupil personnel team. Qualifications Certification: Valid New York State School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) certification. Experience: Extensive experience in special education administration and a deep understanding of NYSED regulations. Leadership Style: A collaborative, empathetic communicator with a proven track record of managing complex organizational systems and building consensus. Education: Master’s Degree in Special Education, School Psychology, or a related field (Doctorate preferred). Interested candidates should apply via OLAS to the attention of Kristina M.
