Position Summary:The K-12 Assistant Director of ENL, Dual, and World Language will assist the Director in providing leadership, direction, and support for the district's English as a New Language (ENL), Dual Language, and World Language programs across all grade levels (K-12). This role involves ensuring the delivery of high-quality, effective, and engaging programs that meet the diverse linguistic and cultural needs of our students.Responsibilities:Program Development and Implementation:Assist the Director in the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive K-12 ENL, Dual Language, and World Language programs that align with New York State Learning Standards and best practices.Ensure that programs are culturally responsive, inclusive, and promote equity for all students.Support the development and implementation of curriculum, instructional materials, and assessments for ENL, Dual Language, and World Language programs.Promote innovative approaches to language education, including the integration of technology and research-based methodologies.Instructional Leadership and Support:Provide instructional leadership and support to teachers in ENL, Dual Language, and World Language programs across all grade levels.Develop and deliver professional development opportunities to enhance teachers' content knowledge, pedagogical skills, and ability to implement effective instructional strategies.Observe classrooms and provide feedback to teachers to improve instruction and program effectiveness.Stay current on research and best practices in language education and disseminate information to staff.Student Support and Advocacy:Work with district and school administrators, teachers, and parents to address the needs of English Language Learners (ELLs) and students in Dual Language and World Language programs.Advocate for the needs of all students, ensuring they have access to high-quality language education programs and services.Promote a positive and supportive school climate that values linguistic and cultural diversity.Collaboration and Communication:Collaborate with district and school administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of ENL, Dual Language, and World Language programs.Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and the community about program goals, initiatives, and outcomes.Build strong relationships with community agencies and organizations to support language education programs.Compliance and Reporting:Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations related to the education of English Language Learners.Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of data related to ENL, Dual Language, and World Language programs and student achievement.Use data to evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement.Qualifications:New York State Certification as a School District Administrator (SDA), or School Building Leader (SBL).Master's degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, World Language Education, or a related fieldMinimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience in ENL, Dual Language, and/or World Language education.Demonstrated leadership experience in a school or district setting.Thorough knowledge of best practices in ENL, Dual Language, and World Language education.Strong understanding of language acquisition theory, curriculum development, and assessment.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of individuals.Commitment to the mission, vision, and goals of the Bay Shore School District.Preferred Qualifications:Experience as an Assistant Director or Supervisor of ENL, Dual Language, and/or World Language programs.Experience with program development and implementation at the K-12 level.Experience with data-driven decision making and program evaluation.Fluency in Spanish or another world language.Application Process:Interested candidates are invited to submit a letter of interest, resume, copies of certifications, and three professional references to Kristina M.
