Literacy Coach K-8 Full time or part time literacy coach to serve in classrooms from K-8Deep expertise in the Science of Reading and Balanced Literacy InstructionFacilitate discussions based on district curriculum and current practicesModel literacy lessons in classroomsModel conferring and small groups in classroomsPrepare and assist teachers in collecting and analyzing student data as it relates to literacy skill developmentConduct regular meetings with classroom teachers to look at student work and monitor progressCollaborate with grade level teams on implementing differentiated instructional strategies to support a wide range of learnersAssist teachers with planning, sequencing and scaffolding of literacy unitsAssist teachers in transition to new literacy standardsParticipate in Curriculum Leader meetings as neededParticipate in Team meetings as needed (MS Only)Provide in-service training and follow up coaching to teachersAssist in preparation with unit materialsObserve and provide peer feedback to teachers on literacy instructionPlan and implement parent information sessions to build understanding of the literacy curriculum and how to support it at homeReports to Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Successful candidates will have extensive experience with the district’s chosen curriculum of Advancing Literacy and IMSE Phonics RequirementsMaster's Degree in Education/LiteracyAt least 5-7 years of experience in a high-performing schoolMulti-grade classroom experience with foundations of reading, writing, and word studyExtensive experience with pre-emergent and emergent readers, writers, continuums, and supportsExperience with reviewing, aligning, and creating curriculumKnowledge of varied assessment methods and is able to use data to inform next steps of instructionStrong collaborator and communicatorIs able to multi-task in differing areas concurrently Is highly organized, self-directed, and reliable
