The Brentwood Union Free School District, New York’s largest suburban school district, announces the following vacancy for an articulate, analytical, dedicated, progressive, and creative educational leader: Secondary School Assistant Principal (10.5-month work year) Job Summary: The Secondary School Assistant Principal works collaboratively with the Principal, teachers, families, and staff to maintain a positive, inclusive, and academically rigorous learning environment that fosters high expectations for all students. The Assistant Principal supports the implementation of the school’s instructional program and plays a key role in instructional leadership, staff supervision and evaluation, student support and management, school operations, and safety. This position supports the District’s Graduation Plus+ vision by ensuring that students have access to meaningful academic, extracurricular, and after-school opportunities that promote leadership, engagement, college and career readiness, and whole-child development. Reports to: Secondary School Principal Minimum Requirements: Ö Must hold appropriate NYS Administrative Certification Ö Minimum of five (5) years of successful public school teaching experience Additional requirements include, but are not limited to: Demonstrated instructional and organizational leadership with a strong student-centered focus Commitment to continuous improvement and a belief that all students can succeed Knowledge of the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Knowledge of DASA, VADIR, and other state and federal compliance mandates Knowledge of student management approaches, student support services, and restorative practices Ability to implement restorative practices to promote positive school culture, accountability, and relationship-building Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, families, and community members Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities Ability to analyze student performance, attendance, behavior, and assessment data to inform decision-making Ability to make strategic organizational decisions related to staffing, scheduling, space, resources, and student programming Assist in the coordination and administration of state and local assessments, including scheduling, implementation, and compliance with testing protocols Support the development and maintenance of master schedules, student schedules, and staffing assignments aligned with instructional priorities, student needs, and Graduation Plus+ pathways Conduct teacher observations and evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and support instructional improvement in alignment with district and APPR expectations Assist in the implementation and monitoring of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) in collaboration with teachers, counselors, and support staff Support student behavior, attendance, and engagement initiatives, including interventions related to chronic absenteeism Assist with school safety planning, crisis response, supervision, and emergency procedures Assist in the supervision and management of extracurricular clubs and after-school programs, ensuring equitable access and alignment with student interests and Graduation Plus+ goals Support student leadership, enrichment, and engagement opportunities across academics, athletics, the arts, service learning, and career exploration Support effective communication with families regarding student progress, attendance, behavior, and school initiatives Enthusiastic, Diverse and Bilingual Candidates are Encouraged to Apply If interested, apply through OLAS: www.olasjobs.org no later than WEDNESDAY, APRIL 29, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. The Brentwood UFSD is an equal opportunity employer.
