Position: Pathways for Beyond the Bell – Graduation Plus+ Initiative (Guidance Counselor) Date: November 24, 2025Brentwood Union Free School District is proud to introduce Pathways Beyond the Bell, a transformative afternoon program created to reconnect, empower, and guide 10th-grade students who would benefit from additional academic and social-emotional support on their journey toward graduation. We are seeking compassionate, innovative guidance professionals to help students thrive in a supportive, structured environment designed to strengthen core skills, build confidence, and promote academic and personal success.Program ScheduleStart Time: 11:05AM – 6:00 PM (Afternoon Program)Monday-Friday: Program Anticipated start date December 1Student Support Services include:Daily counselor check-insIndividual and group counselingAcademic MonitoringFamily engagementEnrichment opportunitiesEmotional wellness and attendance supportPosition Details: 2025/2026 Pathways for Beyond the Bell – Graduation Plus+ InitiativeStudent-Centered Support and AdvocacyAbility to re-engage and support students who are credit-deficientCommitment to providing a caring, structured environment for academic success and on-time graduationDedication to wraparound support, including emotional wellness, attendance support, and college/career assistanceProviding attendance monitoring and or intervention strategies including Home VisitsGuidance Counselor support at-risk students and or support project Graduation Plus+.Counseling and Intervention SkillsExperience with daily counselor check-ins, individual and group counseling, and academic tutoringSkilled in delivering intervention, enrichment, counseling workshops, and team-building activitiesAbility to facilitate family engagement and enrichment opportunities Collaboration and CommunicationWillingness to collaborate weekly with staff to review student progress and guide interventionsStrong communication skills for working with students, families, teachers, and administrators Professional QualificationsValid NYS School Counselor certificationExperience with credit recovery, academic intervention, or similar student support programs is highly valued CompensationCompensation for 2025/2026 will be renumerated as per the BTA contractStaff will collaborate weekly to review student progress and guide interventionsThe program is supervised by Evening High School Principal Mr. Jerry ChengThis position will be jointly supervised by the High School building principal Dr. Dashana Dulin, Evening HS Principal Jerry Cheng and, in conjunction with Coordinator of Guidance Wayne Abenes, and overseen by Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education Matthew Gengler.
