The Brentwood Union Free School District, New York’s largest suburban school district, announces the following vacancy for an articulate, analytical, dedicated, progressive, and creative educator:Career and Technical Education (CTE) Agriculture Teacher - Grades 9-12Qualifications:Must possess a valid New York State CTE Agriculture teaching certificate.Must hold additional certifications or have documented expertise in specific areas of agriculture.Demonstrated proficiency and experience in woodworking skills, including the safe operation of common woodworking tools and equipment.Responsibilities:Design and deliver a rigorous curriculum in accordance with New York State CTE Agriculture guidelines and standards.Instruct students in various agricultural areas, which may include plant science, animal science, natural resources, agribusiness, and agricultural mechanics.Develop and supervise hands-on learning experiences, including laboratory activities, school-based enterprises, and work-based learning opportunities.Integrate woodworking skills into the curriculum, teaching students to safely and proficiently use a variety of hand and power tools to build items related to agriculture, such as garden beds, animal enclosures, or other farm-related structures.Collaborate with technology education teachers to create interdisciplinary projects that connect agriculture with fields like engineering, design, and fabrication.Advise and support a local chapter of a student leadership organization, such as the FFA (Future Farmers of America), to promote leadership, personal growth, and career success.
